Our old friend Civil-War-Stuff has an interesting 1935 Amarillo UCV badge on Ebay. The ribbon is not correst to the badge and the drop appears to be a modern restrike and not the original piece. He has been good lately but old habits die hard. The Ebay number is 220402290517.

On a positive note, I am glad to announce that Doug Roussin has completed and published his much worked on book on sword belt plates, belts and swords of the Grand Army of the Republic and Sons of Union Veterans. A great, well thought out book and needed in every library on Civil War veterans. We have a supply in our Civil War Reference section.

Another great Civil War collector has fallen to the Grim Reaper. Arthur Brewer of Durham, North Carolina passed on December 10, 2008. You can see many of Arthur's collection in the early Civil War collectable books. His early passion was bowie knifes but later his interest became UCV items. Arthur was a member of the SCV and we wish his family our sympathy. If you ever talked to Arthur he would always tell you to have "A Dixie Day". We will miss Arthur.

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Len Benson. After a fight with cancer, Len died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at his home. He died peacefullly and never suffered. Len was a great Civil War dealer and we will miss him terribly. You can read his obituary at earlefuneralhome.com. The family has asked all memorials be sent to the Gettysburg Preservation Trust. The funeral is Friday, January 2, 2009.
